Julian Chojnacki  DGA, SOC, SOA, IATSE Local 600, IATSE Local 669

Julian Chojnacki's film career started when he was nine years old. While growing up in Toronto Canada, Julian began exploring the art of film using his father's wind up 8 mm film camera.  His passion and drive for filmmaking continued throughout the years and in 1982, Julian participated in the prestigious International Film Workshop Program in Rockport, Maine.  Here he learned the skill of Steadicam Operating from the inventor and master, Garrett Brown.

Through his 30 years as a Camera/Steadicam Operator, Julian has had the privilege of working closely with many of the industry's most talented and accomplished Directors and Cinematographers.

It is through this experience that Julian was able to 'learn from the best' and develop his own style and vision as a Director.  A well- deserved opportunity came in 1995 to Direct while working on the CBS TV series Nash Bridges, being filmed in San Francisco. During his years with Nash Bridges, Julian directed 8 episodes and on occasion, simultaneously directed and operated the camera. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2000, Julian has directed additional episodic TV,  such as “ The District”  & “The Strip”. He also Directed the TV movie, "A Mother's Testimony” for the Lifetime Network, starring Kate Jackson, as well 2nd Unit Director and Cinematographer on the film “Friday after Next” starring Ice Cube.

Julian was privileged when asked to shoot one of the first 3D films using the ‘run and gun’ style of being on location. As Main operator, Steadicam, Technocrane and Underwater operator on “Final Destination 4: 3D”, Julian became well adapted in 3D filmmaking. He was instrumental in refining the Cameron/Pace 3D camera set up for Steadicam used in Final Destination.

Additional accomplishments have Julian as Director for the short film, 'Heartburn' starring Dennis Haysbert: produced by Seymour Productions currently in post-production and DP on a feature film, “The Novelist” starring Eric Roberts; a Jon Goodman Entertainment Production, which was recently shot in Los Angeles, CA.
He has written, directed, shot and edited numerous music videos of all genres.

Julian Chojnacki and Producer, Laura Mary Clarke, founded TAKE 8 Films in June, 2010; a Film, TV & Music Video production company based in Nashville, TN with an affiliated office in Los Angeles, CA. Julian and Laura’s partnership as Director, Producer, writer and editor have created a company that specializes in music videos while supporting the diversity of talented artists.
