This two-day intensive workshop allows you to work practically with the RED camera and professional equipment. It's helpful to be knowledgeable in using motion film and video cameras, and be familiar with lighting and grip terminology.

An innovative filmmaker and DP with a VFX and animation background, Jon Firestone’s work and experience is in feature films, episodic television series, documentaries, and motion picture productions with special effects.

Withdrawals & Refunds
Registration fees are non-refundable unless a participant provides StudentFilmmakers.com with written notice that he or she intends to withdraw from a workshop.

  • Written withdrawal notice must be received by the StudentFilmmakers.com at least 10 business days prior to the workshop.
  • Withdrawals or requests for a refund may not be made by telephone.
  • Please note that absence from workshop does not constitute notice of withdrawal.
  • An administrative fee of $25 will be deducted from the refund amount.
  • Payments by credit card will be processed only as a refund to the same card.

No Show
When a participant is confirmed in a workshop and fails to attend, the participant will be charged the full workshop fee.

Jon Firestone
Jon Firestone has written several articles published StudentFilmmakers Magazine with topics ranging from camera movement and camera techniques to following the RED ONE Camera from conception to new developments, and shooting with the RED Camera for his action/fantasy/science fiction film, co-directed with Mark Steven Grove, "Gathering of Heroes: Legend of the Seven Swords." The film stars Martin Kove (The Karate Kid, Cagney & Lacey, Rambo: First Blood Part II) and Christopher Atkins (The Blue Lagoon, TV's Dallas, the cult favorite The Pirate Movie).

Jon Firestone developed and taught the 3D graphics program at the Colorado Film School and works as a freelance director and cinematographer when he is not pursuing his other passion as a Visual FX Supervisor and Animator. Jon is a partner in the Denver-based production company, Asgard Entertainment.
