"Beyond The Call" by Oscar nominated documentary director Adrian Belic will open a one week run at the Landmark Theatre in San Francisco's Embarcardero Center on December 1, 2006. "Beyond The Call" is made in the cinema verite style of the dirctor's previous Academy Award nominated film "Genghis Blues." "Beyond The Call" described as "Mother Theresa meets Indiana Jones," is the story of three middle-aged men - former soldiers and modern-day knights - who travel the world delivering life-saving humanitarian aid directly in the hands of civilians and doctors; in some of the most dangerous yet beautiful places on Earth, the front lines of war zones.

From the Vallejo filmmakers who brought you the Academy Award nominated "Genghis Blues" comes the next great adventure ... "Beyond The Call."

"Beyond The Call" described as "Mother Theresa meets Indiana Jones," is the story of three middle-aged men - former soldiers and modern-day knights - who travel the world delivering life-saving humanitarian aid directly into the hands of civilians and doctors; in some of the most dangerous yet beautiful places on Earth, the front lines of war zones.

Ed Arts, Jim Laws and Walt Ratterman are self-styled Knights of Malta, and in 1995, they formed Knightsbridge, a unique humanitarian organization, whose motto is "High Adventure and Service to Humanity." Artis explains, "We're not going there to change anybodys' politics, we're not in the God business, and we pay our own way." Their speciality is going where death from landmines, bullets, or bombs is as frequent as death from hunger, disease, or the elements.

It is not uncommon for the three men to arrive just as peacekeeping troops, humanitarian organizations, NGO's and others are fleeing. As Ed says, "We do what we can, when we can, because we can."

"Beyond The Call" had its World Premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

"A truely incredibly riveting look into what can be done by only a few to help so many," says Michael Pritchard, Bay Area motivational speaker.

"Beyond The Call" is made in the cinema verite style of the director's previous Academy nominated film "Genghis Blues." Adrian Belic and his brother Roko Belic are the creative partners behind WadiRum Productions. WadiRum is a collaboration of the brothers that began when they made their first film in elementary school with childhood friend, Chris Nolan ["Momento" (2001) and "Insomnia" (2002)]. Wadirum's first feature film, the documentary "Genghis Blues," won the 1999 Sunday Film Festival Audience Award and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2000.

The director/producer/cinematographer, Adrian Belic, and the star, Ed Artis, will be in San Francisco for the opening weekend and doing Q&A after each screening. This is a rare opportunity to meet these global adventurers in person.
