Video Contests, Film Festivals, and Awards

The first annual Black Earth Film Festival will take place October 1 through 3, 2004 in Galesburg, IL at the historic Orpheum Theatre. The festival will feature independent films. Galesburg, IL is a scenic community of 33,000 people and is located between Davenport, IA and Peoria, IL. Galesburg is home to two colleges and the community has a long tradition of supporting the arts with an active art center, community theatre group, and symphony. Film Festival categories include: Short Film; Comedy/Drama; Science Fiction/ Horror; Animation; Experimental; Flash Movies/ Animation; and Documentary. Entries must be postmarked no later than August 1, 2004 and submission applications are available at www.blackearthfilmfestival.org.

The festival was founded on the principle of providing a venue for independent filmmakers as well as fostering community and debate among the artists and enthusiasts of different forms of artistic expression.
