The 2004 Worldwide Short Film Festival

(Toronto) � This year the Canadian Film Centre�s Worldwide Short Film Festival (WSFF) runs from May 11 � 16. Now in its fourth year with the Film Centre, the 2004 Festival is already shaping-up to be one of the best yet, with programming that includes: Spotlight On Mexico, Celebrity Shorts, Scene Not Herd (music video program) and as always the Canadian Competition and International Competition.

The WSFF features films from all over the world, which are captivating, funny, provocative and dramatic. Highlights this year include: the beautifully animated short DESTINO, a Salvador Dali and Walt Disney collaboration; HARVIE KRUMPET, the 2004 Academy Award winner for Best animated short; WE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO DIE, a stunning visual meditation on movement and the human body and CREATURE COMFORTS: THE TRUTH ABOUT CATS AND DOGS, a hilarious insight into the lives of the wild animals and domestic pets of the British Isles, from the acclaimed creators of CHICKEN RUN.

The Spotlight On Mexico includes rarely seen short gems featuring the early works of Mexican stars Salma Hayek (FRIDA) and Gael Barcia Bernal (Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN). Scene Not Herd will screen new videos from independent bands and musicians featuring music by The Chemical Brothers (USA), The Datsuns (New Zealand) and Pepe Deluxe (Finland). Finally, the Celebrity Shorts program features shorts starring Illeana Douglas, Jim Belushi, Daryl Hannah, John Stamos, Janeane Garofalo and others.
