The NORTHAMPTON INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL (NIFF) is committed to establishing a northeast center for the exploration, examination, and celebration of independent filmmaking. NIFF will showcase the works of filmmakers whose films demonstrate quality, innovation, and independence in both form and content.

While the majority of the program will be devoted to quality short films and features that do no yet have wide distribution, we will also show the work of independent film professional who can contribute significantly to our vision for a well-rounded and thoughtful festival program.

NIFF will be a gathering place for those seeking alternatives to the offerings of major studios. We want Northampton to become a regional mecca for filmgoers interested in discovering new work and in sharing their reactions and information. By developing audiences with an appetite for artistic adventure, we will also help the film and video makers reach a greater number of viewers. In addition to providing a forum for conversation about films and the issues they raise, the Festival will be a platform for discussing the broader nature of independent vision in the media.
