Video Contests, Film Festivals, and Awards

The regular program of the Karlovy Vary IFF consists of:

Competition of feature films (only films made after the January 1, 2003 which have not been previously shown in the competition section of another international film festival can be included; the films should be presented as World, International or European Premieres)
Competition of documentary films (both short and full length, 16mm and 35mm)
and following non-competitive categories:

Horizons (the recent productions from around the world)
Another View (films revealing unusual artistic approaches)
Forum of Independents (short and full length films by independent directors from the US and other countries)
East of the West (films from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union)
Czech Films
The program also includes a number of retrospectives and tributes that change every year.


Before applying please read the festival regulations

If you want to submit a film, please send us a VIDEOTAPE (preferably PAL) with a tag saying �NO COMMERCIAL VALUE � FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY�. The Program Committee will then carry out the selection.

Please send the following information together with the videotape:


Year of production
Length of the film
Information whether the screening in Karlovy Vary would be a World or International Premiere. In case that the screening will not be a premiere please list festivals the film has participated at so far.

All the films submitted must be in the 35 mm format (exceptionally, the 16 mm can be accepted). The Festival does not screen films on video, Beta or DVD.

IF THE FILM IS SELECTED, YOU WILL OBTAIN THE OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM.
