We are happy to inform you that the 2nd SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL2005 will be held from July 16 (Sat.) to July 24 (Sun.) in 2005 in the SKIP CITY.


The SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL 2005 is an International competitive festival, which is being held with its theme being Digital Cinema (D-Cinema), a main trend in filmmaking of the 21st Century. The first edition was held in March this year. The Festival aims to discover the talent of the next generation, as well as contributing to the propagation and development of new film industry.

During the Festival, the Feature and Short D-Cinema screenings, Symposium and D-Content Market are held and the guests are scheduled to be invited from around the world.

The call for entries for the Competition sections (International & Domestic) begins from August and the deadline is January 15, 2005. The total amount of the cash prizes will be about 17 million Japanese yen.

Announcement of the Nominated D-Cinema in both feature and short length sections and the detail of each event will be made at a Press Conference, scheduled for April 2005.

SKIP CITY
The SKIP CITY was created with the main aim of contributing to the evolution of the audio-visual related industry as a core industry in the modern era.

This complex consists of industrial, administrative and academic facilities, opened in Kawaguchi City, Saitama, Japan in February 2003.

OUTLINE OF THE SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL 2005

Objectives
In hosting an international film festival with a focus on the main 21st Century trend of digital cinema, the SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL aims to support the growth of D-Cinema and at the same time discover new talent contributing to the evolution of the worldwide film industry, including that of Japan.

July 16 (Saturday)- 24 (Sunday), 2005

Venue
Audio Visual Hall and others in the SKIP CITY
(Simultaneous screenings will be held in various areas through experimental fiber optics.)

Requests will be made to various Governmental offices, commercial enterprises, related industry organizations, diplomatic institutions, NPOs, etc.

Outline
1) Competition Section

a. Feature D-Cinema Section (International Competition)
This section will screen the nominated feature D-Cinema in competition, to be judged by an international jury panel. Nominated D-Cinema will be selected from the theatrical movie entries to be shot and produced in a digital format in all countries of the world.

b. Short D-Cinema Section (Domestic Competition)
This section will screen the nominated short D-Cinema, to be judged by a committee from the Citizen's Circle to Support the SKIP CITY INT'L D-Cinema FESTIVAL.
Nominated D-Cinema will be selected from the short movie entries to be shot and produced in a digital format in Japan.

*Awarding of the winners in competition will be held on the last day of the Festival. (awards include various cash prizes totaling about 17 million Japanese yen).

2) Special Screenings
This section will screen topical D-Cinema from around the world.

3) Symposium
International panel consisting of specialists from all parts of the world will discuss worldwide tendencies and future prospects of D-Cinema.

4) D-Content Market
Digital content market, focusing on D-Cinema is held in the SKIP CITY.
