Located in north Los Angeles County, AVIFF is dedicated to bringing members of the Antelope Valley community into environments where they can learn about films and filmmaking directly from the directors, writers, producers, actors, and craftspeople who create them. The festival seeks to showcase the best in undistributed short and feature films in all genres from around the world.

$25 if postmarked by February 1; $40 if postmarked by March 15

Rules
Submission Guidelines & Rules

1. All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form and a check for the entry fee made out to AVIFF. Entry fee is $25 if submission is postmarked by February 1st, $40 if postmarked by March 1st. (Now extended to March 15)

2. Screenplays must be unproduced and not currently optioned or have negotiations pending. Screenplays are ineligible if one of the writers has been previously produced.

3. If the screenplay was written by more than one writer, the writing team must designate one writer as the main contact.

4. A hardcopy of your screenplay must be submitted (in English) and in standard screenplay format (not in "shooting" format with scenes numbered). Scripts should be no longer than 130 pages, typed in Courier font, and held together with two standard (rounded edge) brass brads. The name of the writer(s) or other identifying information (such as address or phone) should only appear on the application form. No names or other identifying information should appear on the title page.

5. It is the responsibility of the screenwriter(s) to ensure their work is protected (copyright or Writers Guild).

6. Submissions must be the original work of the applicant and may not be based in whole or in part on any fictional or non-fictional material, published or unpublished or unproduced. Entries, however, may be adapted from the applicant's own work which should be noted on the entry form. If the script is based on a true story, historical or contemporary, that should be noted on the title page of the script.

7. If you would like notification upon receipt of your materials, please include a self-addressed, stamped postcard. Script materials will not be returned.

8. If your screenplay is selected for one of the top five prizes, you will be notified by mid April.
