(Cambridge, England) Cel-Soft has chosen IBC2012 in Amsterdam as the launch venue for Broad-server, a new range of computers tailored for highly demanding broadcast applications.

"Broad-server is a no-compromise computer designed to run the increasingly demanding software used in video production, post-production and playout," states Cel-Soft Managing Director Robin Palmer. "Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 Professional or Linux, it is a 4U rack-mountable system including 4 slots which can be populated with capture cards for video input and output to match user-specific requirements.

"An optional 8 inch colour LCD touch-screen on the front panel allows engineering staff to access set-up and monitoring facilities and supervise system activity. The screen can also be used as the user interface for certain types of software, including our ownCel-Scope3D stereoscopic analyser or Reel-Check QC analyser.

"The base model, Broad-server-PC CXS-7680, is configured with an Intel i7-3930 6/12 core processor, an Nvidia GTX680 graphics processor with triple display output, 16 gigabytes of RAM and a 4 terabyte internal RAID. For speed and reliability, system software is held on a solid state drive. Gigabit networking as well as USB-3, USB-2, Firewire, HDMI and DVI interfaces come as standard.

"Personal computers tend to get very hot when running process-intensive software. Broad-server has a highly efficient cooling system to ensure reliable 24/7 operation. Broad-server is supported by a guarantee of fast replacement in the unlikely event of failure."
