Audience participation will determine one of the two winners of the 180 Microcinema Festival, as viewers can continue to view, vote and share their film choices until April 9, 2012.

The 180 Microcinema Festival has had an overwhelming response since the call for submissions was announced in October 2011. This international online short film festival aims to challenge filmmakers to tell a compelling story in just three minutes, while engaging an online audience. These filmmakers' 180-second entries are now showcased on the festival site www.180cinema.net and may be shared by viewers through various social media platforms. 42 festival film entries are in tight competition with one another – and with the extended voting period for the Audience Choice award, viewers still have the chance to select and share their favorite films. In addition to these votes, viewers may also still leave their comments on the films on the festival website.

The filmmaker whose 180-second film entry receives the most viewer votes will win a prize worth USD 15,000 in cash and kind for a transmedia development deal. This amount will be used as the filmmaker's pitch fund for a 30-part Serial Cinema Project, which will have the winning filmmaker create a movie of 30 180-second parts, with one installment posted on the website each day; the culmination of this project will then be a 90-minute full feature-length film also viewable online.

A panel of judges, headed by Academy Award-winning producer Stefanie Walmsley, will determine the other winner of the 180 Microcinema Festival. The winner of the Jury award will also receive the same prize of USD 15,000 in cash and kind for a transmedia development deal.

The awarding ceremony for the 180 Microcinema Festival will be held on April 21, 2012 in Metro Manila, Philippines.
