Vision Research UK Donate Phantom® HD GOLD Camera for Cinematography StudentsVision Research, has donated a Phantom® HD GOLD digital high-speed camera to Kingston University's Moving Image Department. The Phantom HD GOLD gives professionals in the entertainment, sports, digital cinema and television production markets the ability to capture impressive ultra slow-motion video. It is anticipated that the camera will be used by graduate and undergraduate cinematography students.

Vision Research UK, the UK and European Sales centre, will liaise directly with the facility at Kingston University, offering training and support to the professors on how to use the camera. The Phantom HD GOLD camera system is expected to be included in advanced cinematography classes and be used in a classroom setting to teach students the production and work flow aspects of digital high-speed photography.

"We are delighted by this incredibly generous gift from Vision Research," said Dr. Simon Ofield-Kerr, Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Kingston University. "At Kingston we have strong reputations in both film making and animation. This gift will expand and develop the skills and talents of our students, and enable them to work with the best equipment available."

"This camera is going to have a significant impact on student work," stated Kenny Evans, head of the University's Moving Image department. "We have received many requests for a 'proper' slow motion camera and until now the alternatives have been pretty lacklustre. The Phantom is the industry standard in slow-motion photography, and the fact Vision Research donated one to the department is a dream come true on many levels. Expect to see some award winning films shot with this camera in 2012."
