Event: 2012 NAB Show, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV
Date: April 17, 2012, 12:00 noon - 1:00PM

"The Hunger Games" Director Gary Ross has been added as a speaker to the 2012 NAB Show program. "The Hunger Games" is currently the nation's number one movie and enjoyed the third-highest domestic film opening (March 2012).

The sound design for the "The Hunger Games" is born out of an unusual collaborative process between Director Gary Ross and Soundelux and Todd-AO sound teams, who worked side-by-side, beginning at the pre-visualization stage and through production, all the way to the final mix. The panel will show how the film's artists joined forces to realize Ross's retro-futuristic vision, immersing the audience in the film's believable, futuristic world. The panel is produced in partnership with MPSE (Motion Picture Sound Editors).

SESSION PARTICIPANTS: Lon Bender, sound designer/supervisor, "The Hunger Games," "Drive," "Braveheart"
Bill Dean, sound designer, "The Hunger Games;" co-supervising sound editor, "Abduction"
Gary Ross, director, "The Hunger Games," "Seabiscuit," "Pleasantville"

CREATIVE MASTER SERIES: This session is part of the NAB Show's "Creative Master Series" conference, which brings together key players in the motion picture, television, advertising and online communities to shine a light on the craftsmanship of content creation. Additional sessions feature the directors, showrunners, DPs and other below-the-line filmmakers behind "The Walking Dead," "Titanic" in 3D, "Vampire Diaries" and "Act of Valor."
