Executive Producer Les Stroud receives 7th Gemini Nomination for Best Children or Youth Non-Fiction Program or Series for his series 'Survive This'.

Hosted by Stroud, 'Survive This' challenges eight teens to push their limits, overcome their fears and develop lifelong survival skills.

About the Show: No videogames, no Internet, no food court... no kidding! This is real. In the tradition of the hit series Survivorman, Survive This! follows in Les Stroud's footsteps by empowering kids to explore their connection to the wild. Eight kids between the ages of 14 to 16 are taken into the wilderness with Les Stroud as their mentor. Chosen for their unique personalities and overall adventure readiness, these kids are vying to fulfill a self-determined goal that is both personal and inspiring. They are challenged physically, emotionally and intellectually. Each episode presents a different survival challenge - devised by Les Stround himself! Over the course of the series, we get to know the kids very well as relationships develop, conflicts erupt and emotions run wild. Les IS Survivorman, and he knows better than anyone that sometimes when it comes to survival you only get one chance. He'll be looking for that individual who is willing to learn and grow under the most difficult situations. And yes - these kids do have to survive.

Format: 13 x 1/2 hour episodes
Style: Live action adventure

About Les Stroud

"I want kids to be inspired by the reality of what it takes to survive in the wilderness on their own. Beyond the excitement and the danger, surviving strips everything down to the essential and that's extremely liberating. It's important for kids to know that kind of liberty.”

Best known as star of the highly acclaimed hit TV series Survivorman (OLN Canada, Discovery Channel US, The Science Channel US, Discovery Channel International), Les Stroud continues to forge new pathways as a prolific, creative force. In 2000, Stroud took a few small cameras into the wilderness of Northern Ontario, Canada and spent a week surviving alone without food, water, equipment or camera crew. He single-handedly created, produced, wrote, filmed, hosted, edited and composed the theme music for two original, one-hour pilots of what would eventually become the series Survivorman. Stroud has more than 20 years of experience as a naturalist, outdoor adventurer and instructor in survival, white water paddling, sea kayaking, hiking, dog sledding and winter travel. His experience and dynamic personality make him the perfect mentor for kids as they embark on their journey. His vast knowledge and strong sense of eco-responsibility is invaluable as young people continually have questions about survival living. Stroud is thrilled to bring his expertise to this project.
