Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication, Dept. of Film & Video Production Announces Scholarship Programme 2011

Sri Aurobindo centre for arts and communication announces three scholarships for its full time 16-month course in Film & Video Production.

(New Delhi, India) Sri Aurobindo centre for arts and communication, SACAC, New Delhi, announces three scholarships for its full time 16-month course in Film & Video Production. To avail this opportunity, the applicants have to write a story in up to 300 words and support it with a photo-story of 15 images. One has to take original photographs depicting key visual elements/moments of the story. These images have to be placed one-after-the-other onto a PowerPoint Presentation (PPT) in a sequential order. Each image should carry a tagline describing the moment in the story. Downloaded images will not be allowed. The applicant can use any box camera, SLR, DSLR, mobile camera to take pictures. In order to nurture talents SACAC offers three scholarships for its applicants:

1) 50% waiver on the course fee
2) 25% waiver on the course fee
3) 25% waiver on the course fee

The last date for receiving application is 5th October 2011. The scholarships will be decided by a panel of eminent filmmakers such as Santosh Sivan (Maker of Ashoka, Terrorist, Tahaan and upcoming Urumi) Shymal Karmakar (editor of Oye Lucky - Lucky Oye and maker of I am the Very Beautiful, Baba Black Beard and upcoming Chokher Pani) and Nila Madhab Panda (maker of the recent I am Kalam and Atmaja, Chupee and upcoming +ve –ve). The results of the scholarship would be announced by 15th October 2011. The batch begins on 1st November 2011.

This scholarship will be highly beneficial for those who intend to learn filmmaking in a structured way by joining a film school. The applicants also have to simultaneously apply for the course using the standard procedure of admissions of SACAC.

Started in 2003, SACAC is an autonomous non-profit institution for creative learning in arts and communication. It is a unit of Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry. Today, it is the alma mater of leading professionals in the fields of Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, Film and Video Production and Creative Photography.

The revamped 16-month Post Graduate Diploma in Film & Video Production gives a holistic understanding of the craft of filmmaking on diverse formats such as HDV, HD and Celluloid. This intensive programme integrates several aspects of film learning such as film appreciation, art appreciation, screenplay writing, production planning, cinematography, lighting, audio recording, sound design, and direction. SACAC has partnered with other reputed institutions for knowledge, service and equipments sharing. The faculty is made up of reputed practitioners and working professionals. The intake per batch is kept limited for better teacher - student interaction.

Its unique study tour to Prasad Lab - Chennai, International film festival - Thiruvananthapuram, Kanya Kumari, Puducherry and Auroville provides a solid exposure to entire film production process, networking and self development. Thoroughly guided film projects made during course works as portfolio for the students in their professional aspirations.
