"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" tells the story of Mikael Blomkvist, a hardworking financial reporter who tries to distance himself from a recent libel suit by agreeing to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Henrik Vanger's grandniece. Teamed up with punk hacker Lisbeth Salander, Blomkvist becomes entangled in a web of intrigue at whose center may lie the murder of an innocent girl. The film opens nationwide December 23.

The soundtrack is a collaboration between Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, composer and soundtrack artist who also worked with Reznor on the score for the 2010 film "The Social Network", netting the duo both a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Original Score. In addition to composing for Nine Inch Nails and film, Reznor has also devoted his energies to creating sound effects and ambient audio for video games like "Quake".

Null Corporation, Reznor's independent record label, is currently taking pre-orders for the CD soundtrack and is offering a six-track sampler on its website. February 6, 2012 will see the release of the album's deluxe version on six vinyl LPs and will include extras such as a razor blade USB pendant containing the full album and a Neil Kellerhouse poster.
