The camera mounts to the standard Universal Panavision Camera Mount (PCMU) when using the 19mm Arri & Panavision Top Bridge plate (BP8P) which uses 19mm rods for lens support.

The camera was designed to accept a wide range of 35mm film camera accessories and accepts either PL or PV mount 35mm film lenses.

The F35 is one of the newest entries in Sony's line of digital cinematography cameras.

Expanding on the technology of the previous cameras, the HDW-F900 and the F23, Sony has expanded and improved on the F35 to make it one of the ideal choices for digital filmmaking.

Its ergonomic size allows easy docking of the Sony SRW-1 recorder as well as the Panavision® SSR-1 solid state recorder.

Panavision has "Panavised" the F35 so that it can be used with many of Panavision's standard 35mm film camera accessories.   The Panavision lens mount allows the use of all Panavision 35mm film lenses.  The viewfinder mount has been changed to the Panavision Dovetail system similar to the Genesis Viewfinders.  The top handle has been removed and replaced with the Panavision dovetail system in order to mount various accessories.  The camera mounts to the standard Universal Panavision Camera Mount (PCMU) when using the 19mm Arri & Panavision Top Bridge plate (BP8P) which uses 19mm rods for lens support.  Panavision has added a power distribution box to the side of the camera to power additional accessories.

With a new Super 35mm CCD sensor offering 1920 x 1080 resolution at a rate of up to 50 fps progressive, the F35 provides excellent image quality, depth of field similar to that of a 35mm film camera and a wide dynamic range.  The camera was designed to accept a wide range of 35mm film camera accessories and accepts either PL or PV mount 35mm film lenses.  The camera has a variable frame rate of 1-50 fps in one frame per second increments and like the Sony F23 it has the ability to overcrank and undercrank at variable frame rates.  It offers full bandwidth high definition 4:4:4 recording, a 14-bit A/D converter, varying gamma settings that include S-LOG gamma, HyperGamma, a customizable gamma curve and built-in down conversion output.
