(Sacramento, CA) - The feature documentary Age of Champions will make its Sacramento premiere Monday, May 21st at the Crest Theater, with a special appearance director Christopher Rufo and producer Keith Ochwat.

Age of Champions is the uplifting story of five competitors who sprint, leap, and swim for gold at the National Senior Olympics. You�ll meet a 100 year-old tennis champion, 86 year-old pole vaulter, and rough-and-tumble basketball grandmothers who battle to overcome the limitations of age and discover the resilience of the human spirit.

Age of Champions premiered to a standing ovation at the prestigious Silverdocs Film Festival and has since shown at more than 500 venues around the world. The Washington Post called the film "infectiously inspiring" and its characters have been featured in major media outlets including ABC, CBS, PBS, and NPR.

The Sacramento premiere will be hosted by State Assembly Speaker John Perez in partnership with the SCAN Foundation, California Endowment, Kaiser Permanente, and Wellness Foundation. This year, the filmmakers, who started the Documentary Foundation in 2008, are launching a national "Host a Screening" campaign to bring the film to communities across the country. The Foundation has created the Age of Champions Screening Kit to give senior, health, and fitness organizations an easy-to-use tool to share the film with their members and promote the message of lifelong health and wellness. They hope to sign up more than 3,000 organizations to host a screening in the next year.

Age of Champions is the second film by the Documentary Foundation, a Sacramento, California-based non-profit organization dedicated to documentary production, education, and outreach. The Foundation�s first film, Roughing It: Mongolia, aired nationally on PBS and was featured in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and National Geographic Adventure. The Foundation also administers the Doc School, a documentary filmmaking program for high school students in the Sacramento area.
