Screenwise Film & TV Acting School Launches A Brand New Website With Online Course Enrolment

By StudentFilmmakers.com
posted Feb 15, 2012, 09:57

Screenwise, the Sydney Film & TV Acting School that trained Isabel Lucas, Todd Lasance and BAFTA nominee Chris Hemsworth, has undergone a major online transformation, allowing the Sydney Acting School to process applicants directly via www.screenwise.com.au for the first time ever. The brand new Screenwise website, with its fresh design makeover, will make course enrolment for both longterm courses (such as the government accredited Diploma of Screen Acting), and short courses (such as Screenteens, Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced), a much smoother process. Thus the web-savvy, computer literati are welcomed to Screenwise with open arms in 2012, gaining more immediate access to the award winning Actors, Directors & Casting Consultants who teach at the Sydney acting school.

2012 will also see Screenwise welcome a brand new set of students to it's new, government accredited Diploma of Screen Acting. The Diploma was created to provide intense training in the unique acting skills and techniques required to meet the demands of today's Film & TV industry. Naturally the Diploma is not an Actor's only option as not all jobbing actors have the time needed to invest in such a rigorous program. Thus Screenwise offers Screen Acting Beginners and Screen Acting Intermediate short courses, which run on Saturday mornings from Feb 18 to March 24, to allow actors to hone their craft, and gain valuable film & TV acting experience without impeding on their fulltime work commitments.

The increased popularity in courses at Screenwise is clearly derived from the current industry sphere; the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) statistics show that 85% of an actor's career-long income will be derived from television. As there is little work available in the Australian Theatre industry, for most actors the medium of screen will be their bread and butter. The rise in quality Australian television productions, such as The Slap and the Underbelly Series, is making it easier for new actors to be recognised nationally and internationally and opens up a larger number of doors into the industry.

In industry related news, past Screenwise students Todd Lasance and Chris Hemsworth continue to make waves in the TV & Film industries. Aside from Hemsworth's highly anticipated role as The Huntsman, opposite Twilight star Kristen Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman, he has been nominated for a BAFTA award in 2012, while Todd Lasance recently fulfilled a request to present an award at the 2012 inaugral AACTA awards.
