Running from March 21 to March 22, the world famous Banff Mountain Film Festival arrives in Santa Fe, New Mexico as part of a tour spanning the globe with approximately 390 stops in 35 countries. Santa Fe based SDC Mountain Works has partnered up with The Lensic Performing Arts Center, which is located at 211 W. San Francisco St., Santa Fe, to bring the film festival to town for the 17th time.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival kicks off at 7 p.m., Wed., Mar. 21, at The Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The festival, which is created at The Banff Centre, an arts, cultural, educational institution, and conference facility located in Banff, Alberta, Canada, is the largest mountain film festival in the world. The 2012 tour features include inspiring action, environmental, and adventure films. The films in this festival cover the gamut that the planet has to offer when it comes to up-close and personal, adrenaline-infused, action-packed sports. Festival entries came from all over the world, covering exotic landscapes and remote cultures, all for the sake of producing exciting movies about the mountain world. The films being screened in the tour coming to Santa Fe come from a careful selection of some 300 films that were originally entered, then reduced down to a handful of both award-winning films and audience favorites. In conjunction with this event, Santa Fe online visitor guide SantaFe.com is offering an opportunity to register to win tickets to the Banff Mountain Film Festival on the company's website.

Screenings of The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour in Canada and the U.S. are presented by National Geographic and The North Face, Parks Canada; sponsored by Deuter, Outdoor Research, PrimaLoft, Central Asia Institute, Tom's of Maine and Therm-a-Rest; with support from MSR, Fernie Alpine Resort, Petzl, Kicking Horse Coffee and World Expeditions. Local sponsors include The Santa Fe Reporter, SantaFe.com and The Lensic Performing Arts Center.
