Joshua Overbay graduated in 2010 with an MFA in Cinema-Television with a concentration in directing. When he first came to Regent, he had passion for filmmaking but no experience. Two years later, his film Transposition was a finalist for a student Academy Award®.

"This achievement was very significant for our careers as filmmakers," he reflects. "What I really appreciate about Regent is if you come here, like I did, without any experience and work hard, you can quickly get to a level playing field and start doing what you want to do creatively."

Overbay says that Regent provided him with the confidence and training he needed to convert his passion for filmmaking into a fulfilling career. Upon graduation, he was hired as an assistant professor of media communication at Asbury University in Wilmore, Ky.

Overbay is currently working on his first feature film, So Falls the Shadow, with his production company Tracking Shot Productions, LLC.
