Overture Films Sets In 'Stone'

Mimran Schur-produced De Niro and Norton thriller to release in 2010.

(Beverly Hills, CA) Overture Films is acquiring U.S. distribution rights to the dramatic thriller Stone. It was announced by Overture CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett. The film stars Oscar�-winner Robert De Niro (Raging Bull), Oscar(�)-nominee Edward Norton (Fight Club), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil franchise) and Golden Globe(�)-winner Frances Conroy ("Six Feet Under").

John Curran (The Painted Veil) directs Angus MacLachlan's (Junebug) script about a convicted arsonist (Norton) who looks to manipulate a parole officer (De Niro) into a plan to secure his parole by placing his beautiful wife (Jovovich) in the lawman's path.

"Curran is a gifted director working from a fantastic script and with a top-notch ensemble of actors," McGurk and Rosett said. "All of us at Overture are excited to be adding this exciting film to our slate for next year."

Stone is financed by Mimran Schur Pictures and Millennium Films and produced by David Mimran, Jordan Schur and Holly Wiersma with Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short serving as executive producers. Nu Image is handling international sales.

Overture currently has George Clooney's The Men Who Stare at Goats and Gerard Butler's vigilante thriller Law Abiding Citizen in theaters. In 2010, Overture will debut the Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell horror-thriller The Crazies (nationwide February 26, 2010), Oscar(� )-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman's directorial debut Jack Goes Boating (release date to be announced), as well as the action-thriller Brooklyn's Finest (nationwide March 5, 2010), with Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Wesley Snipes and Ellen Barkin.

The studio, in conjunction with Hammer Films, recently started filming Let Me In, writer/director Matt Reeves' adaptation of Let the Right One In starring Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz, and Richard Jenkins.
