(Los Angeles, CA) The trailer for the short film Africa Light / Gray Zone by Tino Schwanemann is now available on the website www.africa-light.com.

The German director Tino Schwanemann produced this film in collaboration with Stefanie Paul as the label einscommanull (English: one dot zero) in cooperation with the German Film Academy.

Photographed by Felix Novo de Oliveira and Mathias Prause on Kodak 16 mm, the film tells the story of the continent of Africa as a significant symbol of the Third World in a period of increasing social, economical and political changes. The main focus is the country of Namibia, known for its tourist attractions, its beauty in nature and extra-ordinary wildlife. Namibia is called Africa Light by its white inhabitants to suggest an unproblematic lifestyle and endless freedom to the outside. However, the reality is far away from this. So its so-called gray zone appears.

The film is a story about lost identities of the primitive people, the overwhelming progression during todays globalization and its related changes in the African environment.

The music is composed and produced by Carsten Raabe (Germany). Additional music is contributed by Moby (USA).

The final short film will be published at the end of October 2009 and will be shown on several international film festivals first. From 20 October 2009 on, more details and background information can be found on the official website www.africa-light.com and on the projects blog.
