New York Festivals 2013 Television & Film Awards Announces Call For Entries

(New York, NY) - New York Festivals�, now in its 56th year of honoring the World�s Best TV Programs & Films�, has announced its 2013 competition Call For Entries.

New York Festivals and Rose Anderson, NYF�s TV & Film Awards executive director, carefully evaluate and update categories to match current trends in the constantly changing Television & Film industry that showcase both emerging talent as well as renowned industry professionals. New categories launched for the 2013 competition include Best Innovation, Best Technical Production Team, Best Online Special Event, Best Performance by an Actor, Best Performance by an Actress, Editorial/Viewpoint Program, and Current Affairs Program.

�At NYF, our categories continually reflect the full spectrum of what is being created today around the world. We think it is important to recognize the individuals and the teams that make significant contributions.� remarked Ms. Anderson. �By expanding on-camera categories for News, Sports, and Entertainment we honor the compelling efforts of anchors, actors, actresses, and journalists in the field. By spotlighting those teams whose behind-the-scenes expertise lead to important technical innovations we put the focus on a major strength within the broadcast community.�

For the third year in a row, New York Festivals and NAB Show will showcase the Television & Film Awards to the 90,000 attendees at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas. This strategic partnership offered the 2012 NYF Television & Film Awards the opportunity to present a multi-day event that included the screenings of the three 2012 Grand Trophy winning entries: ESPN USA for �Indianapolis 500 Open: A Walk Through Time�; REELZCHANNEL USA for �The Kennedys�; and Temolo Productions for BIO, The Biography Channel USA for �Ray Charles' America.�

Kate Jackson, coordinating producer ESPN for �Indianapolis 500 Open: A Walk Through Time�, had this to say, �It was an incredible honor to be awarded the 2012 New York Festivals Grand Award. This project was a true labor of love and recognition among all the exceptional NYF nominations this season was a very special moment for our team.�

ESPN was named 2012�s Broadcaster of the Year, and The Edge Picture Company, England earned the title of Production Company of the Year. Geoffrey Mason, Senior Production Specialist for ESPN, was honored with the NYF Television & Film Lifetime Achievement Award for his accomplishments and contributions to the television industry.

The 2013 New York Festivals Television & Film Awards gala will be held in Las Vegas on April 9th at NAB Show.

Entries in the 2013 competition will be judged online and screened by New York Festivals Television & Film Grand Jury comprised of producers, directors, writers, and other creative media professionals from around the globe. Winning entries will be showcased on the NYF Television & Film Awards website.
