“The Reconstruction Project,” from Neppix Films, is one of the most recent music albums to launch on Kickstarter. This inspirational album promotes positive messaging via hip-hop that appeals to younger generations. Creators, James Morgan and Davante Ellis, are using the crowdfunding site to gain awareness, promote their music, and receive money to help fund their album. Since Kickstarter has a long-standing reputation for helping the careers of emerging musical artists, Morgan and Ellis hope to find success with their inspirational album.

The motivation behind Neppix Films’ newest production is to combine popular hip-hop music with positive messaging, something that is regularly rejected by younger generations. Today’s hip-hop has become infamous for lyrics that focus on violence, drugs, derogatory language, and other negative messaging, which doesn’t sit well with parents. However, the music with positive and uplifting messaging that parents would rather have their children listen to is deemed uncool and lame.

Co-artists, Morgan and Ellis saw the negative impact that current hip-hop has on their generation, so they decided to change that impact with music of their own. Their album, “The Reconstruction Project,” will feature hip-hop music that is inspirational and uplifting to listeners.

“Mainstream hip-hop music, as a whole, has lost the meaning it originally held,” says Morgan. “Using ‘The Reconstruction Project,’ we want to bring hip-hop back to its former glory as an artform.”

By creating original music that blends the “cool-factor” with positive messaging, Neppix Films has the opportunity to impact a generation. The artists want their music to be a source of positive energy for listeners and hope they can redefine mainstream hip-hop. Since “The Reconstruction Project” has music for everyone, from adamant young hip-hop fans to youth groups and parents, Neppix Films has the opportunity to truly make a difference with a wide array of listeners.

However, in order to change current stereotypes, “The Reconstruction Project” needs to gain awareness and a loyal fanbase. With 15 days left in their Kickstarter campaign, Neppix Films needs almost $7,000 to make their dream a reality.
