(London) - With the eyes of the world on London this summer, Screenwriting Goldmine has chosen this moment to launch a major new British screenwriting contest.

Sponsored by Final Draft and the Raindance Film festival, the contest is looking for original screenplays from new writers from all over the world. The finals will be judged by heavyweight script development execs from the BBC, ITV, C4, NBC/UNIVERSAL and Touchpaper TV, plus other independent producers and the Head of the Raindance Film festival.

Finalists will have their work read by the eight judges, who are opinion leaders within the industry. Whats more, finalists will have the chance to hold a one-to-one meeting with the judge of their choice. Yes, they choose the judge they want to meet, just like on The Voice.

The prizes include cash, screenwriting software, script workshops, and industry memberships.

Philip Gladwin, a successful writer for screen, radio and stage, established Screenwriting Goldmine in 2007 as a friendly community to help those seeking a career in professional screenwriting and editing.

He says: I cant remember ever seeing so many people from so many different broadcasters combining like this to find new screenwriters here in the UK. Every writer knows that getting their script read by anyone with commissioning power is one of the biggest hurdles of all. Our judging panel is so well recognised in terms of industry clout that the winners screenplay should carry international weight.

Screenwriting Goldmine is a great source of support and inspiration for aspiring screenwriters throughout Britain and beyond. Philip Gladwins tried and tested methodology for screenwriting is at the heart of http://www.ScreenwritingGoldmine.com. The site offers articles and advice on the mechanics of writing for screen, informative podcasts and an active community forum, with over 2,000 members and upwards of 57,000 posts making it a thriving centre for the worldwide serious amateur scriptwriting community.

With this new contest, Screenwriting Goldmine has launched an exciting and heavyweight screenwriting competition with a truly authoritative judging panel, giving aspiring writers the opportunity to put their work in front of some of the most influential figures in the industry, says Philip. Its easy to see how this competition could be the start of an exciting and rewarding career as a professional screenwriter, the dream for so many.

The competition closes on the 12th July.
