Legendary entertainment banker Lew Horwitz will take a night off from retired life to speak on his expansive career in Film Finance as Global Film Ventures (GFV) expands it’s operations to Los Angeles on June 18th. The seminar on the 18th is focused on Film Finance and takes place at the Showbiz Store & Cafe at 500 S Sepulveda Blvd in Los Angeles from 4-7pm.

The speakers feature Lew Horwitz, who though happily retired, has agreed to speak at this inaugural Los Angeles Event for GFV due to a long standing professional relationship with one of its co-founders, Diane Baker. Ms. Baker said, "We are thrilled that Lew has agreed to join us for our launch event, and who better to speak on film finance with his over 40 years of experience in all aspects of film finance."

The other prominent speakers are Harry Winer, Executive Producer of the film Erased starring Aaron Eckhart to be released worldwide by Radius TWC and Victoria Silchenko, Founder and CEO of MetroPole Capital Group. A panel to be moderated by GFV co-founder and Director Ben Yennie follows the individual presentations. "While GFV seminars cover many topics financing is our greatest demand so we are excited to launch our LA series with such amazing speakers on that topic," says Yennie.

Global Film Ventures, an incubator for independent film based in San Francisco seeks to teach filmmakers how to create sustainable, profitable, and investable companies out of the projects they produce. The tools to do this include educational programs for both filmmakers and investors and the future development of a film fund and Angel investment group. By not only preparing filmmakers for investment and success, but also cultivating investors to ensure that smart money can enter the film industry from other sources such as the Silicon Valley tech world.

By taking a unique approach to acceleration, Global Film Ventures seeks to disrupt the film industry through a more holistic approach that establishes transparency and good business practices. GFV finds and incubates good filmmakers, accelerates companies, and finances films. As GFV co-founder Gary Tomchuk states, “GFV brings Silicon Valley business sensibilities to Hollywood creativity.”

The event is open to all film industry people, whether new or veteran and costs $30 in advance.
