Joseph Villapaz to Direct No One Lives Forever and Life's a Minefield

Joseph Villapaz Announces Next Two Films Slated for Summer 2012 Theatrical Premieres. (New York, NY) -- Director Joseph Villapaz is eager to complete filming No One Lives Forever and Life's a Minefield for premieres in the summer of 2012. Fresh off humble wins for his film Love Eterne at The Accolade, Best Shorts and Los Angeles Movie Awards (II) competitions, plus screenings at the New York International Independent Film and Video Awards and NewFilmmakers New York Annual Christmas Show in 2011, Joseph Villapaz is hoping to meet or exceed expectations with the upcoming films. "Unlike Love Eterne which was a romantic comedy," says Joseph Villapaz, "No One Lives Forever will be a sci-fi action thriller and Life's a Minefield will be a contemporary drama."

No One Lives Forever is about an advanced being who leaves her dystopian world to seek refuge on Earth while being sought by assassins to return her home at any cost.

Life's a Minefield is about two people seeking success in their lives only to discover that there is more to it than they ever imagined.

Like Love Eterne, both films take place in modern day New York City and focus on a strong female character who learns things about herself while confronting difficult situations. "I didn’t want to make the same kind of film right after Love Eterne," says Joseph Villapaz. "I didn’t want to make another romantic comedy, but I did want to retain the focus on a female protagonist as a role model. People seem to like that about the previous film so I wanted to expand on the idea with the next two installments."

What will also be the same is the tiny budget but may be supplemented with possible Kickstarter or Indiegogo funding campaigns. "The funding campaign concept is great if it works as planned," explains Joseph Villapaz, "but the problem is the script has to be flexible enough to allow for a shortage or no funding at all. So for example, if the script calls for a car chase, which is expensive for an independent filmmaker to do, it may have to be changed to something else like a foot chase if the budget is smaller than expected."

Both films will be produced concurrently and should be completed before Summer 2012. The first film festival scheduled for No One Lives Forever is the Fantasia Film Festival.
