The 7th Indonesian Film Festival, Melbourne is an annual festival celebration in Melbourne that showcases a range of Indonesian films every year. This year, IFF will be held on the 8th– 13th October 2012. It is a special year that IFF return to the Capitol Theatre as their main screenings venue; a historical place with its own aesthetic feels located on Swanston St. This year IFF Inc. is back in collaboration with Melbourne University Indonesian Students Association (MUISA) to proudly announce the five films line-up.

IFF will be opened with an omnibus film consisting of five different stories, directed by five different people. Dilemma (Dilema) tells the stories about individuals'  life complications, decisions, and lessons. All potrayed from the characters' different backgrounds and issues they are facing. The film had won Best Feature Film at International Festival of detective films, Detective FEST 2012 Moscow, Russia. IFF's opening film will be screened on the 11th of October 2012, 7.15PM, Capitol Theatre.

Set in one night of an urban city, Lovely Man tells  a  story about one girl, who was raised under strict Islamic principles, came to Jakarta for the first time in search for her long lost father. She brought pictures of her father and the address her father lives in.  After long attempts in finding her father, feeling tired and lost, she forced herself to go. She was completely surprised to what she saw next and everything changed. A film to fill in IFF's Friday night, 12th of October 2012, 7.15PM, Capitol Theatre. The film won the Best Actor in 6th Asian Film Awards and was screened at 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival.

A red-haired character, a talking cow, and an Armageddon scene, all shown in IFF's third film's trailer, Mama Cake. This film is packed in such unusual and unique ways that we might question what the film is all about. The film is screened from a comedic perspective with a simple story objective. But do not get caught solely in the laughter, that there are morale messages that we all need to understand. IFF's third film brings up the ideology, social, and spiritual issues, which are all symbolized through the film's three main characters. Mama Cake will be screened on October 13th 2012 at 4.15PM, Capitol Theatre.

One of IFF's comedy films is For Ucok (Demi Ucok). This film will entertain the audience with a story about a mother who has a bordering obsession to find her daughter a husband. On the other hand, rather than stepping into a marriage, her daughter prefers to follow her passion in making films but faces some financial problems. Her mother is the one and only hope for financial support. This financial problem generates a dilemmatic problem because her mother will only finance the needs as long as she agrees to marry a man that is suggested by her mother. This agreement is dilemmatic for Gloria so she attempts to find other ways to finance her film. For Ucok will be screened on October 13th 2012 at 7.15PM, Capitol Theatre.

As a part of IFF's annual pre-event, the Educational Program will once again be held this year. The Educational Program is designated specifically for students and teachers, who are learning Bahasa Indonesia. In the spirit of promoting Indonesian culture and language learning, the 7th IFF would like to play a role in the educational system of Indonesian language. The program aims to share the Indonesian culture through 'the screen' and allows and allows the student audiences to learn and practice their Indonesian language skills further. Presented in association with Melbourne University's Asia Institute and Victoria Indonesian Language Teacher Association (VILTA), 7th IFF will screen Ciliwung Troops (Brandal-Brandal Ciliwung) on the 8th - 11th of October 2012 at Yasuko Hiraoka Myer Room, Melbourne University.
