(Purcellville, VA) Multimedia music production company Goose Creek Music, of Purcellville, Virginia, announces an upcoming live-audience recording session for Memphis duo Deering and Down. The concert is being produced as a demonstration and exhibition for the Music Business Conference hosted by Cutting Edge, CE, and is part of the Goose Creek Live project to build a catalog of live performance recordings by important and rising Americana musicians. The performance will be at 6:30 pm on Friday, September 28, 2011 in the Nord Ty Tracy Theatre, Gallier Hall, New Orleans, and will be free of charge for conference attendees.

Deering & Down is an independent duo living in Memphis and playing music worldwide. Originally hailing from the Pacific Northwest, the band has lived and played music in Alaska, Los Angeles, Ireland, Switzerland, Canada and Memphis. Called "the best one-two punch in the city" by Memphis' Commercial Appeal, the duo describes their style as defiantly unorthodox with a smokey Memphis flavor cast in a glow of shimmering Northern lights. Canadian-born vocalist Lahna Deering found her way up North to Alaska, where she met and befriended rock and roll journeyman Rev Neil Down. The merging of Deering's strong belt-it-out voice, and Down's "left of center" guitar playing was just the beginning of their creative kinship. The last few years have found Deering and Down immersed in the Blues of Memphis and the Mighty Mississippi River.

Deering and Down's latest album, "Out There Somewhere" was reviewed in Downbeat Magazine, who said of Lahna's voice "her spectral soprano brings home innocence and kittenish sensuality, alienation and acceptance, hurt and healing." Five of the duo's tracks were featured as a soundtrack in the movie "The Romance of Loneliness," which premiered at the Nashville Film Festival in April 2012.
