Two dramatic films and two music videos produced and directed by Cornerstone University film students have been nominated for awards at the Grand Rapids Film Festival including “One.two.five,” which is in the main competition and was selected to be screened May 17.
Graduating senior Matt Miller directed “One.two.five” in the dramatic category, and “Pulling Me Under,” a music video. Bryce Thompson, a graduating senior, produced “One.two.five.”
“Purple,” a winner at the Mosiac Film Festival last fall was directed by juniors Alex Oslen, with Abrielle Tatro producing. It is in the dramatic film category.
Oslen also directed “Oxygen,” a music video, with producer Ashton Gardner, a graduating senior.
Also nominated was “Pulling me Under,” both produced and directed by Miller. Another 20 Cornerstone students helped on the crew of each film.
The 2013 Grand Rapids Film Festival features amazing works of cinematography to several different locations across the downtown area. Venues host screening of films, panels, “workshops and bring together the West Michigan film industry through networking and celebration,” according to the organizers.
The festival begins May 15 with a kick-off party and begins screenings of the nominated films the following day, May 16. Screenings are scheduled at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art (UICA), Rosa Parks Circle and the downtown campus of Grand Valley State University.
Throughout the four-day festival more than 50 hours of screening will take place.
Classes and hands-on workshops will be featured this year at Ferris State University’s Kendall College of Art and Design’s newly renovated historic Federal Building and Compass College of Cinematic Arts.
