FilmDemic Movie Streaming App for Facebook; Release Announced at Sundance 2012

(Los Angeles, CA) -- FilmDemic has announced the launch of the first movie streaming application for Facebook which utilizes the Facebook Graph API to interpret personal affinities and make highly targeted content recommendations. “The FilmDemic App goes past simple behavior, genre, actor or theme algorithms that have dominated the online viewing experience. Our technology will tap in to emotional social connections to find titles that you want to watch,” stated Vaughn Juares, CEO of FilmDemic.

“Facebook is like nothing the world has ever seen; it’s a world-wide phenomenon that has no equal in terms of connecting people with what they care about most. The statistics speak for themselves and the entertainment industry is just now beginning to attach to the momentum and global possibilities of Facebook... our technology is a great place to start for content providers who want to monetize the opportunity,” Juares stated.

Another powerful feature of the technology allows filmmakers, studios and distributors to quickly and inexpensively generate Facebook “Watch Now” tab applications for the viewing of single titles directly from a movie’s Facebook page. The “Watch Now” feature will also drive customers to other titles based on the content provider’s priorities and the viewers affinities.

FilmDemic is currently offering only 140 titles for it’s Beta launch but has agreements in place from various content providers including Gravitas Ventures, Vanguard Cinema, Indie Rights and others and will make more than 1500 movies in the system over the next 30 to 60 days. The app will also be cross-platform with the release of device-specific versions for Apple and Android in February. “It’s important to recognize that the app is in the Beta stage. We’ve got teams of people working to improve the technology and adding better content every day. Simply put, we are developing in a market which has not been explored in the way we are doing it and launching early is the best way to get real-world consumer input,” Juares concluded.

The FilmDemic App currently uses Facebook credits which may be purchased seamlessly within the app using credit cards, Paypal or via cell phone using Buku.

No more searching for something good to watch, with the FilmDemic app for Facebook the movies find you.

The app may be found at: apps.Facebook.com/MovieStreaming/
