Brandon Jerwa is pulling back the curtain on the comic industry with a documentary that focuses on stories and insights from a wide variety of creators.

(Seattle, WA) Already in production, “Untold Tales of the Comic Industry” will tackle a vast array of topics, ranging from early childhood stories and creative inspirations to issues of race and gender, both on the page and within the industry. Jerwa, a comic writer best known for his work on “G.I. Joe,” “Battlestar Galactica,” and “Mighty Crusaders,” says that early filming has “already guaranteed a documentary experience that is both welcoming and unflinching. Nothing is off the table.”

Following the example set by countless other film projects, Jerwa and his film team are using the popular Kickstarter fundraising website to help finance the production. The stated goal of $18,000.00 will allow the filmmakers to travel to Los Angeles, Portland and New York City for extended periods, interviewing the vast number of comic creators and publishers who call those cities home. As with all Kickstarter projects, if the goal is not reached by the specified end date of September 15th, 2011, Jerwa’s documentary will receive absolutely no funding.
