BEA2012 Research Symposium

Media Management and Economics Research in a Transmedia Environment

Sunday, April 15, 2012
Las Vegas, Nevada

The 2012 Broadcast Education Research Symposium, “Media Management and Economics Research in a Transmedia Environment” is to be held April 15 in conjunction with the BEA annual convention.

Management and economics issues are the foundations of every media enterprise.  Historically, media management and economics focused on single firms and industries.  In the 21st century, the media industries are engaged in developing content across multiple platforms and are engaged in multiple industries, often in partnerships with competitors.

As the media industries are undergoing transformation, the term “transmedia” is used in the call for papers for this research symposium to invite papers that explore new approaches to studying media management and economics.  Possible topics include new theoretical or methodological investigations; case studies of innovative media companies engaged in transmedia; business models in a transmedia environment; strategic approaches to transmedia; and new media forms such as social media and mobile media and their managerial and economic issues.

For more information on the Symposium or to get involved email Symposium Chair Alan Albarran.
