(SEOUL, KOREA) Budding filmmakers are to see their works showcased in Seoul this November as part of the Asiana International Short Film Festival 2011 (AISFF 2011).

The Korean capital's CineCube venue in Gwanghwamun is to play host to the annual event between November 2nd and 7th, with this being the ninth edition of what has become the nation's largest competitive short film showcase.

Creative directors from around the world will be submitting works that push the boundaries of the medium, with prize categories open for local and international works as well as animations.

A total of 2,173 movies have been submitted from 90 countries, with artists competing for a grand prize worth 15 million won (GBP8,350), as well as the opportunity to have their films screened on Asiana Airlines flights after the event.

Out of this list, 54 films have been selected for screening, including works from the UK, New Zealand, France, Malaysia, Japan and Lebanon, as well as Korea.

The CineCube venue is located within walking distance of Gwanghwamun Station and is known as Seoul's go-to destination for lesser-known, artistic films.

A large choice of Seoul hotels can be found by cineastes at AsiaRooms.com, including the IP Boutique Hotel Itaewon.
