Earlier this month, more than 175 people attended AVL Expo, an event designed specifically to address AV technology issues for the worship community.

(Seatac, WA) Premier systems integration firm Advanced Broadcast Solutions (ABS) announces that the Audio, Visual, Lighting Conference and Expo (AVL Expo) was a big success earlier this month, attracting more than 175 attendees. Produced in collaboration with Experience Church.tv, the two-day event was held at Experience Church in Puyallup, Wash., and was designed specifically for the worship community.

Mark Siegel, President of ABS, said the event hosted significantly more attendees than the inaugural event last spring, and the vast majority of attendees were new. "The worship market has a number of technological challenges," he said. "AVL Expo is all about educating attendees so they can present a solid AV plan and make it happen."

"This AVL Expo was off the charts," said Dennis Cummins, Senior Pastor at Experience Church.tv. "ABS helped churches in so many ways find hope and inspiration for their individual needs. They really know how to communicate to this the church market and bring a solution that can grow with them, not price them out of the market."

Earlier this month, more than 175 people attended AVL Expo, an event designed specifically to address AV technology issues for the worship community.

The event featured a variety of education sessions that highlighted video and audio production, video projector selection, and Web-based technologies. More than 20 vendors joined ABS in the exhibit hall, including Broadcast Pix, JVC, Marshall Electronics, and Panasonic. Siegel said the conference also provided unique opportunities for networking and information exchange between church personnel.

Pete Emme, a volunteer at Eastridge Baptist Church in Kent, Wash., appreciated what he said was a fun and exciting experience, and is already looking forward to the next AVL Expo. "Everyone was so supportive it was sometimes hard to believe," he added.

"Some church leaders are struggling to learn how to integrate AV elements into their sermons and worship services," Siegel explained. "Others don't think they can afford to correct sound issues. And many congregations aren't maximizing their efforts on the Web to attract new members. Our program covered a diverse group of important topics and exposed attendees to a variety of solutions that can work within any budget."

Pastor Micahn Carter of Morning Star Church in Yakima, Wash., said he was inspired by AVL Expo. "We started with a fan page on Facebook," he noted. "World Wide Web, here we come."

"There seems to be such a hunger for the kind of information that AVL Expo provides, but churches are having a difficulty finding it," added Cummins. "AVL Expo helps people better understand the right questions to ask equipment vendors that apply to their application. It's filled with sessions to help explain how equipment can be implemented in the real world - our churches."
