Filmmakers / Students Hone their Skills at International Academy of Film and Televisions Short-Term Workshops
IAFT Upcoming Filmmaking Sessions Include Digital Video Production, Hi-Def/RED Camera and 3D Animation

(Cebu, Philippines)--The International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT) is offering three new short-term Filmmaking workshops in Digital Video Production, Hi-Def/RED Camera and 3D Animation. Beginning June 2009 and ranging in length from four days to three weeks, the sessions are open to film students and filmmakers alike who are interested in expanding their skills or learning the latest techniques in a particular area. Located in the tropical island setting of Cebu, Philippines, IAFT, a wholly-owned subsidiary of film production company Bigfoot Entertainment, attracts talented students from all over the world who strive to develop skills necessary to gain a competitive edge in todays international film community.

The new Filmmaking workshops that IAFT will be offering include:
Digital Video Production June 8-26: In this intensive three-week session, students learn the basics of filmmaking: Screenwriting, producing, directing, shooting and editing. Participants will work in small teams and realize their film concepts using IAFTs comprehensive equipment and facilities. At the end of the session, students create their own non-synch-sound short film, as well as a group synch-sound project.

Hi-Def/RED Camera*: While learning cinema technology using the P2, the F900 and the new Red Camera and the difference between low-res and hi-definition shooting, participants will also spend time comparing hi-def formats and learning the special functions for each camera. At the end of the workshop, students will cut together footage shot in class to create a mini-reel.

3D Animation*: Learning the basics of 3D Animation using Maya, students will cover the fundamentals of modeling, texture, lighting and motion in this intense one-week class.

IAFTs short-term workshops in Filmmaking are great opportunities for people who really want to focus on a particular area, while perhaps getting away from the commotion of their daily lives, said Keith Sensing, Executive Director, International Academy of Film and Television. To date, our short-term programs have been very popular amongst the global film community, and we will continue to look for ways to expand the program in the future. In addition to these sessions, IAFT offers short-term workshops in a wide-range of film and media competencies throughout the year. Its diverse curriculum ranges from screenwriting, acting and directing courses to specialized classes in Final Cut Pro, photography and CGI.
