Topanga Film Festival. (August 6-9, 2009, submissions: June 26) This open-air, boutique festival receives entries from around the globe and showcases a broad range of short films from documentaries, animation, drama, comedy and experimental. The highlight is the competition screening on the giant outdoor screen perched high in the canyon. Special screenings include, “First Look,” a glimpse at features about to be completed; “High Caliber International Shorts” and “Best of Topanga,” a night of local talent.  For the first time this year’s festival will recognize film achievement

The Wayfarers Traveling Festival invites young filmmakers (< 25yrs) to submit their work for review and due consideration for entry into the 1st annual Wayfarers Traveling Festival. WTF is wholly unique in its open-ended criteria for submissions. There is no restriction on the number of pieces you can submit and no entrance fee. All films will be considered equally, within reason, regardless of genre and running time. Cash and material prizes will be awarded in 3 categories.
